    Billings Frequently Asked Questions

    Question:
What forms of payment are accepted by Broome Co-operative Insurance Company?

Answer:  Broome Co-operative accepts Cash, Check, Money Order or Credit Card.  If paying by credit card, insureds can either mail in their bill stub with credit card information, pay online or call the office directly at 607-321-2655 or toll free at 1-866-921-BCIC.  A Direct Debit option is available for those insured that pay by check and would like their payments automatically withdrawn from their account

Question:  What credit cards are accepted at Broome Co-operative?

Answer:  Broome Co-operative accepts both MasterCard & Visa credit cards.

Question:  If a request is made to change a policy, how will it affect my billing?

Answer:  If the change will result in a premium adjustment, the subsequent billings will be adjusted accordingly.

Question:  Can I change the due date of my policy?

Answer:  The effective date of your policy is the date that the billing cycle is based on, therefore it cannot be changed.  However, payment plan options are available.

Question:  My checked bounced, what do I do now?

Answer:  Once the bank returns the check to us, we will return the check to you.  There is a $30.00 service fee for returned checks.  If there is still time before your payment is due, a new bill will be sent.  If the due date has passed, the policy will go into a Non-Payment Cancellation status.  If the policy was already in a Non-Payment Cancellation status, the policy will be cancelled.  For more information, contact Broome Co-operative’s Billing Department.

Question:  My insurance is escrow billed, but I received my billing statement.  What should I do?

Answer:  If your mortgage lender is supposed to pay your insurance from an escrow account, you either need to notify your independent agent or Broome Co-operative directly in writing to request the change.  The name of the mortgagee, the mailing address, and the loan number will be needed in order to make the change.

Question: I received a Non-Payment Cancellation Notice, now what should I do?

Answer:  If you received a Non-Payment Cancellation Notice you will find the premium amount due and the due date in bold letters in the center of the letter.  If payment is not received by the due date, your policy will be cancelled.

Question:  My policy is completely cancelled, but I need insurance, what can I do?

Answer:  Contact your independent insurance agent for further instructions.  If you cannot reach your agent, you can call the company directly at 607-321-2655 or toll free at 1-866-921-BCIC.
